I bet you never thought anyone would be telling you to make mistakes. However, that is exactly what I am going to do. Make them early and make them often. They will actually make your web design business much stronger in the future. Mistakes are important for learning — learning how NOT to do things and that’s the best way to learn sometimes.
Mistakes are going to happen in every aspect while creating a successful web design business. They will cause clients not to pay. Mistakes will cause extra work to correct. Mistakes may even cost you a client or two. It’s time you get over the emotions and learn from your mistakes.
Get Over The Emotions
To make sure mistakes don’t affect you in a negative way, you have to understand the emotions involved. You also have to realize that having one or more of these emotions when you make a mistake is perfectly natural. Just get over it! Don’t let them bring you down! Use these emotions to your advantage and to drive you to do better next time:
- Anger (in general or at yourself)
- Disappointment
- Frustration
- Discouragement
- Sadness
Learn From and Improve
Mistakes happen and will always happen. While you can’t prevent every mistake, each one should help you learn how NOT to do things. Take the mistakes that you’ve made and erase them. Start over and improve your work through them. They are going to happen, so make them often and early while your business is young.
