DS Mag Update 6-21-05

As each day moves on little bits of the magazines backbone are completed. The site has had a face lift, guidelines have been written, subscription rates have been set, and advertising costs have been set. Contributors continue to volunteer and things are rolling.

It is my goal to have the first issue out by September 1st. I have set July 1st to be the date to target advertisers and subscribers. This is where I will need everyone’s help. I will obviously (as it should) be doing most of the work, but word of mouth spreading by my readers and my contributors is another aspect of subscription generation I am counting on.

If you haven’t seen the website by now - shame on you. Check it out (http://www.designstudiomag.com), contribute, subscribe, advertise or spread the word! You might be wondering how you can spread the word. That is simple, you can spread the word by telling everyone you know about a magazine they might be interested in, you can blog about it, you can post about it on other forums, or any number of other ways. You can even put a link on your page directing your visitors to the magazine, as this couldn’t hurt.

That is about it for now, check back as I should have more updates soon !

WOW - that is my word for this update. I am still impressed with the response I am getting with this magazine. Contributors are volunteering for the categories that need filled. So far I have not had to twist anybodies arms (close, but not quite).

By the end of the week I will have the business registered with the State of Indiana, I should hopefully have the majority of the content pages done for the website, and I will hopefully have more contributors lined up (would be great if all categories were filled). With all those things in place, I can begin focusing on securing more advertising for the magazine and site, spreading the word to get further interest in the magazine itself for subscribers, and of course working on the first issue.

Thinks still seem to just fall into place, I am waiting for the first roadblock or hurdle, as I know they are out there and it is probably going to hurt when I hit it. Until then I am enjoying the ride.

If you want to write for or advertise in the newest and only magazine dedicated to connecting designers then email me at info@designstudiomag.com or go to the website (http://www.designstudiomag.com) and contact us that way too.

Here’s till the next [update] !

I thought I would put another update regarding the great progress I am having in putting together the backbone to this magazine. The Lord has blessed me with this idea and I am being led by great people giving me the direction needed.

In the course of yesterday and today I have spoken with the following State/Federal offices:

Everyone has be very helpful, especially dealing with all of my questions. I have a good grasp of what legal limitations, obligations, and guidelines I must follow. Within the next few weeks I will be registering the company and receiving my Trademark.

The magazine sections|categories has increased yet again to include some very good topics. Head on over to the website for a list of those which still need writers and if you are interested email me with the links on the website and I will be sure to include you.
